Day 1: Cape Town
On arrival in Cape Town you will be met by your driver/guide and transferred to the Portswood Hotel where you will check in.
In the afternoon, your driver/guide will pick you up from the hotel and weather permitting, you will enjoy a ride in a cable car up to the top of Table Mountain. The views from the top of the mountain are spectacular and there are designated walkways so that visitors can enjoy a walk around. There is also a shop where you can buy souvenirs and enjoy refreshments.
Return to the hotel where you will overnight. (Breakfast included)
Day 2: Cape Town to Oudtshoorn
After an early breakfast check out of the hotel and head out for the town of Worcester which nestles beneath the Brandwacht, Overhex and Langeberg Mountains. It is also an area with beautiful wine estates and olive farms.
Continue on your journey passing through Swellendam. Situated approximately 220 kms from both Cape Town and George, it is the fourth oldest town in South Africa. The town has over 50 provincial heritage sites most of them buildings of Cape Dutch architecture.
Continue travelling towards Oudtshoorn, a town. On the way you will pass through some of the most magnificent scenery including the Tradouw and Huisrivier Passes. The name “Huisriver” makes no reference to a house anywhere on the pass, but is instead derived from the Khoikhoi word for ‘Willow Tree’. The original Pass was built in 1896/97 but the current pass is relatively new, having been completed in 1966.
On arrival in Oudtshoorn, you will check into the Queens Hotel where you will overnight. (Breakfast included)
Day 3: Oudtshoorn to Knysna
After breakfast check out of the hotel and take a guided tour of one of the world’s greatest wonders, the Cango Caves. At the head of the picturesque Cango Valley, lies the spectacular underground wonder of the Klein Karoo – the Cango Caves with the finest dripstone caverns, vast halls and towering formations.
After an enjoyable time at the Caves, continue on your journey to the town of Prince Albert.
Prince Albert is situated at the foot of the Swartberg Mountain range and is blessed with a perennial water supply which belies the reputation of this arid region. The Swartberg Mountain range is a World Heritage Site and part of the Cape Floral Kingdom, boasting the greatest number of plant species, particularly fynbos, in the world.
From Prince Albert travel onto Meiringspoort (weather permittime), past Oudtshoorn onto the Garden Route via the Outeniqua Mountains Prince Albert is situated at the foot of the Swartberg Mountain range. The Swartberg Mountain range is a World Heritage Site and part of the Cape Floral Kingdom, boasting the greatest number of plant species, particularly fynbos, in the world.
Travel through the Outeniqua Mountain pass en route to Knysna where you will check into the Knysna Quays Hotel and overnight. (Breakfast included).
Day 4: Knysna to Witsand
Check out of the hotel after breakfast and travel up the coast to the Tsitsikamma. The Tsitsikamma, the ‘Garden of the Garden Route’, welcomes you to the area the ancient San people called the ‘place of sparkling waters’. Here the high mountains, deep gorges and rugged coastline are covered with tall indigenous forests and vast, unspoilt stands of the Cape’s unique fynbos. This is truly a place of abundant waters with rivers and cascades tumbling to an ocean lined with rocky crags and white, sandy beaches.
Beautiful indigenous forest, protected by the State, is home to ancient trees such as Yellowwood, Stinkwood, Hard Pear, Ironwood, Kamassi and many others.
Continue your journey via Bloukrans and Swartrivier passes via Plettenberg Bay and Mossel Bay. Here you will stop to look at the Post Office Tree. This famous Milkwood Tree in Mossel Bay is over 500 years old.
From Mossel Bay it is onto Witsand on the banks of the Breede River where you will check into the Breede River Lodge and overnight. (Breakfast included).
Day 5: Witsand to Cape Town
After breakfast cross the Breede River by ferry and continue by road along the coastal route through the Overberg region towards Cape Town.
Pre-arranged morning activity in Gansbaai.
It is anticipated that you will arrive in Cape Town around 17:00.
On arrival in Cape Town you will once again check into the Portswood Hotel where you will overnight. (Breakfast included).
Day 6:
Your driver/guide will pick you up in good time to transfer to Cape Town International to connect with your flight home.
